Today saw the final day of competition of the 2016 Eastern University Games (EUG) and there was no shortage of on field excitement for spectators to follow.
This week has been a huge week of sport in Wollongong, with over 3000 students from 15 universities playing across 19 different sports. All universities were well represented by their students who can all be congratulated on the way they displayed true sportsmanship on and off the field.
After four days of intense competition, The University of New South Wales were victorious, claiming five gold medals and six silver medals and the title of Overall Champion University for 2016. University of Technology Sydney came in second place with Western Sydney University taking third place.
The Spirit Trophy awarded to the university that displays good sportsmanship and fair play, was awarded to University of Canberra.
The University of Sydney - Cumberland took out the Per Capita Championship, with Charles Sturt University coming a close second. This championship is awarded to the university winning the most pennants per student numbers.
Australian University Sport will now turn its focus to the Australian University Games which will take place in Perth from 25-30 September.
