Australian University Sport (AUS) takes great pride in ensuring that it governs the University Sport industry with integrity, forward thinking and collaboration with its members. The following pages detail the governance structure that AUS has implemented and the direction that the organisation and industry will be heading in the coming years.
Australian University Sport (AUS) is a not for profit company limited by guarantee. Australian University Sport is governed by a nine-person Board comprising of six member-elected directors, two independent directors appointed by the Board and one director appointed by Universities Australia.
Each elected Board Director and the President serve on the Board for an initial two year term after which they can choose to submit a nomination to be re-elected for a further term.
The Board meets a minimum of five times per year and is represented by the following people.
Deidre has held senior sports executive positions at both an international and national level and her contribution to elite sport has been acknowledged worldwide. She is published widely in the areas of coaching and career transition in sport and has a lifelong commitment to supporting the development of young people.
Professor Brailsford is the Vice Chancellor and President of Bond University, appointed from January 2012.
Sarah brings strategic, financial and corporate governance skills from three decades of board and executive experience in not-for-profits, small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and multinationals in Australia, France and the US.
Chris brings 25 years’ education sector experience encompassing tertiary and secondary teaching, physical education, and management of an educational self-esteem program in Australia and Singapore. Chris is currently the Director (and Equity and Diversity Advisor) of UWA Student Life aimed at improving the UWA student experience. His portfolio includes oversight of UWA Sport, Student Accommodation Office, Health Promotion Unit, Medical Centre and Early Learning Centres.
